NEWS:
The VB programs are here, but freeware compilers collected from around the 'net are still to come. I would also really like to know what compilers you think I should put on this page. Just E-Mail your suggestions to DJF@EMAIL.COMPUTER.NET.

Quick BASIC 4.5 is one of the best ways to start computer programming. It can be found on the internet, and it will start you off with Quick BASIC, the forerunner to QBASIC which was the forerunner to Visual BASIC. If you have an older computer in your house or place of work, it may have a copy of QBASIC 1.0 on it. Quick BASIC 4.5 looks just like QBASIC 1.0, with only a few diffrences in the languages. Yet, Quick BASIC 4.5 has one thing that QBASIC 1.0 does not that makes a world of difference. It is a compiler, a program that will not only run your code, like in QBASIC 1.0, but it will also turn it into a *.EXE stand alone application if you want it to. The following are programs that I wrote, and you can examen the coding to help you on your way to create your own programs. Once you have mastered Quick BASIC, you can try Visual BASIC. Now, here are my programs, feel free to edit them, but give proper credit to me where needed. All programs are in text format. To use them, when you click on the link, select all coding and then copy it. Then paste it into a text editor and then save the file in *.* (all files) format and make sure that the end of the name is .BAS and you should save it into the directory that contains your copy of MICROSOFT Quick BASIC v. 4.5. Some more examples of programming and some compilers can be found at QBASIC.COM, which has a link above.

Klik & Play is a program by MAXIS and EUROSOFT that enables a person with little or no programming experence to create graphical, multi - level games. I like Klik & Play as well as I like Quick BASIC 4.5. The following are some games that I have written in Klik & Play. They are compressed in *.ZIP files, and you need PKZIP to unzip the file. If you do not have PKZIP by PKWARE, please click on this link to get it.

I am a bit of a video games historian and I particulary like ATARI's 2600 and 7800 video gaming systems. If you would like to give my ATARI game picks a go, just scroll down and download a game. NOTE: YOU NEED AN EMULATOR TO RUN A ROM GAME. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN EMULATOR ALREADY, PLEASE CHOOSE THE CORRECT EMULATOR FOR THE TYPE OF GAME YOU ARE GOING TO BE PLAYING. ATARI 2600 ROMS USE ONE EMULATOR AND ATARI 7800 ROMS USE THEIR OWN EMULATOR. NO EMULATOR RUNS BOTH TYPES OF ROM GAMES. EMULATORS ARE ALSO ZIPPED. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PKZIP, click on this link to get it. NOTICE: IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY OWN A COPY OF THE GAME YOU DOWNLOAD, YOU MUST DELETE IT WITHIN 24 HOURS. YOU CAN KEEP EMULATORS FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT, JUST NOT THE ROMS.
